Akademisk Boldklub has signed left-back Frederik Jørgensen, who will join the club on a two-year deal until June 2027.
– Frederik is a good defender who has physicality and aggressiveness. He is a really good progressive player who also strengthens our defensive options, says head coach Joey Gudjonsson.
The 23-year-old Jørgensen has spent the majority of the 2024 season at West Virginia University, where he has helped the West Virginia Mountaineers win the Sun Belt Conference regular season, tournament titles and reach the semifinals of the U.S. NCAA College Cup, where he has contributed six assists in 21 games. – Frederik has a very balanced set of tools, as he is both strong offensively and defensively, says sports director Jen Chang.
“He’s also really good at hitting set pieces, and he fills the last missing part of our squad, as we only had one other left-back in Marc Dal Hende.
Jørgensen originally comes from AGF’s youth academy, and he has played two games for Denmark’s U16 national team. Before going to West Virginia, he played 11 games for the 2nd Division. Division team Brabrand in the 2020/2021 season.
– It feels like the only right thing for me as a player to come to AB, where I can learn a lot and at the same time chase big goals with the team.
“I see my role at the club as someone who comes with an incredible energy and hunger to play football. I also come with an ambition to do my best to help AB, so that we can achieve the ambition of promotion to Betinia Liga, says Frederik Jørgensen.
