Dear AB Family,
I am truly excited to be able to look back at the year with you. I have been Chairman of the club for only a few months, but part of the project for far longer. As we stand on the cusp of a New Year, I want to take a moment to reflect on our adventure together and look forward to the exciting road ahead.
The past year has been filled with milestones and celebrations, along with some challenges, that have all contributed to moving the club forward. I am continuously impressed by the dedication, patience, and commitment our fans show us when we win and when we lose.
We want to pay this commitment back. Even though the league is on winter break, we do not stand still. We are only 8 points from a promotion position, and we have momentum. We will do everything we can to achieve our goals by adding new talent to our club on and off the pitch, and we will work tirelessly to elevate our club in every way.
Two recent highlights have been welcoming Noah Engell and Tobias Hageltorn, both exceptional players and proud products of our academy. They embody the heart and future of AB. This is a true testament of the partnership between the elite and amateur organizations under the AB flag, and we will continue to invest in young talent combined with established leaders.
We have also worked hard to improve the match-day experience, with themed match days like the Oktoberfest match against HIK that created an unforgettable atmosphere in the stands and in the lounge. These events reminded us that AB is not just about football; it’s about community and creating memories together. I feel that same energy when I am in the stadium, and I enjoy thoroughly spending time with fans and partners. It is truly amazing to feel the passion first-hand and talk to so many devoted AB followers. I will be back for our spring opener against BK Frem, so please come and say hello.
This winter also marks two years of ownership for the new group. And by group, I mean a collective of more than 100 passionate individuals who came together because they saw the potential and promise of this historic club. No conglomerates, no venture capitalists, and no multi-club plays. Just people passionate about football and the club’s great history. Our sole purpose has always been, and will remain, the growth and success of AB.
As we move into the New Year, I want to assure you that we are committed to building long-term success. Regardless of what happens sporting-wise this season. We want to tackle the challenges ahead with ambition and unity, with strong roots in the local community. And I am honored to lead that charge.
That desire is the driving reason I have taken on the role as Chairman, along with the goal of allowing our Sporting Director, Jen Chang, to focus 100% on the sporting direction of AB. He has been instrumental for this club and the time he invests in scouting and watching every practice exemplifies the dedication that he and our coaching staff have put towards achieving our goals. I see this change as a fresh beginning and an opportunity to bring a renewed focus to our mission of strengthening AB both on and off the pitch.
I also want to thank the efforts of our CEO Sofie Brandi Petersen, who has been pivotal for us as she runs our daily operations and continues to work to professionalize our corporate standards. She has emphatically improved our corporate culture, matchday experience, and strategic direction of our commercial efforts, as well as leading our community efforts with the most expansive work we’ve ever done with local schools in Gladsaxe.
Akademisk Boldklub is a club with a rich history, an exciting present, and a future full of possibilities. We have knowledge in our foundation and are built for development.
